How to sell high margin digital assets

Hi fellow AIpreneurs!

Welcome back to the Right Words. Learn how to use AI to create a one person business.

The internet game is not zero-sum. You can win at this with unlimited upside. This game is about the freedom to do what you want, when you want and with who you want.

If you’re with me then let’s get after it.

LAST WEEK

You lose only if you quit

I’ve been going to the gym since I was 12. Here’s what I’ve learned and applied in business:

Put in the reps, you’re going to suck at first, progress comes over time, perfect your form.

Mark Williams

You can make money leveraging AI. It’s cliché at this point but you must derive satisfaction from the process.

  • 26 new subscribers per day

  • 2200 total subscribers

  • $105 earned in the previous week from BeeHiiv Boosts and affiliates

Again the money to be made in growing your business comes from selling your own products and services. My focus is growing to 10,000 subs before launching either.

On the horizon

My plans are to double down on enabling your success as an AI solopreneur:

  1. Make second hire to share more methods on Reddit

  2. Create free Discord mastermind (reply to email if interested)

  3. Create automations guidebook

If you haven’t started something yet take the next most obvious step.

  • Learn nocode tools

  • Build your landing page

  • Create the social media account

  • Post consistently to start building engagement

  • Begin developing your first digital product or service

  • Collaborate with others in your field to expand your reach

DEEP DIVE

Step 1: Profitable niches

Early on I avoided going into profitable niches because I had the illusion that they were saturated or I could find riches in something more obscure.

One thing I learned is having existing competitors in your space means there’s money and a market for your product and services.

I would first do market research to validate some ideas. Since I’m all in on AI here’s what I came up with:

  • Sell platform AI prompts (ChatGPT, Midjourney, Bard, Claude etc.)

  • Faceless YouTube channels with AI generated video

  • Sell Make.com or Zapier automations

  • AI logo design

  • Improve social media / website graphics using Midjourney

  • Physical product design

  • Create & sell Chatbots

Then run a comparison on Google Trends:

What you’re looking for is consistent interest or growing over time.

AI prompts seems to be a winner from the group I evaluated. Websites like PromptBase are selling AI prompts for $3-$10 a pop. The margin on this is super high and you can resell the same prompt over and over.

Step 2: Build your brand

First you need to decide to build a business brand or personal brand.

Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Advantage of a personal brand is you’re more likely to have people engage on social media since they are built for human to human connections.

Disadvantage of a personal brand is if you try and sell your brand, investors have a harder time due to everything being reliant upon you.

Advantage of a business brand is you can attract more enterprise partnerships especially if you’re in a b2b niche.

Disadvantage of a business brand is growth on social media is harder if not paired with a face.

Get started by defining these three core brand elements:

  1. Define your brand messaging

  2. Create your brand aesthetics and visuals

  3. Develop a consistent visual style that aligns with your brand

Here’s how Pascio nails it:

Step 3: Create free lead magnets

Speaking of Pascio, he’s also a master of creating products and I highly recommended studying what he has.

Here’s an example of a Notion template on how to go into Monk Mode. If you’re not familiar this is a trending idea (smart for him to leverage) about people acting like a monk to get some serious work done:

But before you launch into a paid product you want to validate with a free product. In fact that’s exactly how Pascio did it with the Monk Mode template, he first started with an entry Monk Mode template.

Once there was enough interest he created an advanced version and upsold it to everyone who already raised their hand for the free version.

Folks, this is the winning model.

I see way too many people trying to create a paid product out of the gate that ends up being worse than others free product and they make $0.

If you’re building your brand you can use your audience to validate demand.

Step 4: Attract your true fans

I’ve outlined this step in detail with previous posts but here’s the core elements:

  • Observe what’s working for others

  • Always lead with value

  • Engage your audience on social media

  • Build real relationships and connections

  • Give away your free lead magnets

  • Put in the reps daily

Here’s three guides you can follow:

It’s imperative you capture your audiences emails and being regular communication. My recommendation is to use a platform like BeeHiiv.

Step 5: Create and sell your paid product

With an audience and validated demand through your free products it’s time to create a paid product.

The easiest place to start would be to expand an existing resource into something more comprehensive, more in depth, more advanced, etc.

I listed a library of ideas below in the Monetize section so you can see popular formats and applications.

You can also look at popular Gumroad products to get inspiration.

If you can find similar products that you’re looking to create, try and reverse engineer their landing pages and look at the reviews!

Your product must solve a problem.

If that problem saves them money or makes them money they’ll be willing to pay you more.
