Guys doing $100k/m with an ugly SaaS

Kick SaaS using no code + AI for under $250

In today’s episode:

  • Deep Dive: Kick SaaS using no code + AI for under $250

Let’s get after it.

DEEP DIVE

Start your SaaS without writing a single line of code

Your timing couldn’t be better

In the USA Baby Boomers (70 million of them) are selling and passing on $10 trillion worth of assets in the next 20 years. That’s roughly 12 million privately owned businesses.

Did you hear about a 73 year old Japanese man who just gave away his company for free? His children didn’t want to take over and too many businesses relied on him (farmer).

This massive transfer happening right now from old to young means greater adoption of technological solutions.

Take StyleSeat for example.

A booking app for barbers & stylists.

Valued at over $100 million

Product > Service

A simple marketplace to schedule & connect people who need a haircut with someone who can cut hair.

Growing a one person business requires monetization.

The margins are insane if you do this right.

You’re probably overthinking this like I was, instead do this:

  • Uplift old industries with new tech.

  • Think construction, legal, home services, etc.

  • Use no code to launch quickly and validate the idea.

  • Leverage AI to automate the entire process

Your no code stack

Webflow

Our use case will be a youth soccer organization.

I just paid over $2000 for my son to be in a competitive league.

These guys are making good money but they suck at organizing tryouts, practices, games, team meetings, and likely their own internal orgs management.

Webflow is going to allow you to get a website and app design up and running quickly that looks professional.

Let’s grab one of their web templates:

Then I use MidJourney’s AI image generator to create some assets geared towards my niche:

For the app side I’ll do the same thing with one of Webflow’s app designs combined with MidJourney for creative assets:

We’ve got an initial front end design and a framework for our app, not bad for 30 minutes of work.

There’s going to be a learning curve here. Webflow has a university to walk you through building in functionality like this event calendar app training to make our soccer scheduling.

If you want the AI solution for a website give Durable.co a try.

Make

Make.com is my go to no code automation tool.

You can connect nearly any app and trigger a sequence of automations.

Here’s some use cases that you can build into your SaaS:

  • Automatically notify customers about unpaid invoices

  • Automatically collect customer testimonials

  • Automatically categorize support tickets

  • Measure active customers from stripe data

  • Build an automate a WhatsApp business chatbot

There are endless automations and connections that will save you thousands of dollars in manhours.

Anytime you have a task or process go to Make.com first and search for popular automations.

TypeForm

Typeform itself is a no code SaaS platform to help your business grow by engaging your audience. These come in the form of user friendly forms, surveys, quizzes and asynchronous videos.

Your goal is to move quickly and validate your idea. A pre-launch form is going to gather leads and valuable insights into pain points, interest level, price sensitivity and more.

Before collecting data answer these questions:

  • What is the core problem or pain point you want to address? Is it related to productivity, operations, customer engagement, etc?

  • Who is the target end user - what specific business roles or personas?

  • What industry or niche are you focused on? Retail, healthcare, financial services, etc?

  • How does your app address the problem? What are the key features or differentiators?

  • Why is your approach superior to alternatives? What unique benefits does it provide over other options?

Lead generation form example

Grab the lead generation from for this and include these core questions after collecting name and email:

What are the most challenging aspects of dealing with [problem] in [business type]? How do you envision our app solving these pain points with it’s [unique selling proposition]?

In your daily [business type] activities, how often do you encounter [problem]? Can you share specific scenarios where our app, with its [unique selling proposition], could make a significant difference in addressing these challenges?

As a [business type] professional, how critical is it to have [problem] solved efficiently?

As you collect this data you’ll be able to create a solution that is perfectly tailored to your ideal customer profile. Feed these leads into a newsletter app like BeeHiiv and keep communicating with them about the upcoming launch.

Most people get an idea, spend months building then launch with zero sign ups.

Do the opposite:

  • Build quickly

  • Validate & capture demand (Typeform)

  • Launch to a nurtured list (BeeHiiv)

  • Iterate based on feedback and data

Airtable

Airtable is going to be your go to no code platform for building an app.

They have built in workflows powered by AI to automate much of the heavy lifting.

  1. Sign up for an Airtable account and create a new base. This will be where you build your app's databases and tables. Start by thinking about the types of data and relationships you need to store.

  2. Add columns to your tables to define the fields for each type of data. For example, you may have a "Customers" table with columns like "Name", "Email", "Phone Number", etc. Make use of different field types like text, number, checkbox, etc.

  3. Link your tables together using relations to connect related data. For example, you may have a "Customers" table and "Orders" table, linked by a "Customer" relation field. This allows you to associate orders with customers.

  4. Use Airtable's interface blocks like Forms, Gallery, Calendar, Kanban, etc to build your app's frontend. Connect these blocks to your databases to quickly build out user interfaces for data entry, dashboards, calendars, grids and more. Leverage templates if available.

Pair this with noloco.io where you can tweak the UI to exactly how you want things to function.

The key for beginners is to start simple. Use Airtable's flexible building blocks and templates to create an MVP version of your app idea. As you get more comfortable, you can add more complex features and functionality over time. The no-code platform makes iteration easy.
