The 7 figure business AI can't disrupt

Use AI instead of it using you

AI feels like the T-Rex that broke out and is coming to eat us all.

I watched Jurassic Park with my two older sons, and it still hold ups.

History has that annoying habit of repeating itself which means the winners will find a way…

And the winners are contrarians who end up being right.

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

Steve Jobs

Steve believed that everyone would have a personal computer 10 years before it happened.

The contrarians who are wrong end up looking crazy.

Steve made himself right.

That didn't happen from a cold plunge. He did it by executing relentlessly.

The 7 figure business AI can't disrupt

Sing the song that only you can sing, write the book that only you can write, build the product that only you can build... live the life that only you can live.

The business model is you.

After creating three different 7-figure businesses here’s what I’ve learned:

  • No one is better at being you than you

  • You can learn by trial and error

  • Learning from someone who’s 5-10 steps ahead means you don’t have to

  • Massive leverage comes from growing your audience

  • Do what’s already working but do it better

  • Sell something people are already buying

  • Content is king

If you don’t know Sam Parr he started a newsletter called “The Hustle” that he sold to Hubspot for 8 figures.

I’ve studied his winning content process and created a simple way to replicate it.

My 9 stupid simple steps to go from $0 to 7-figure solopreneur

Step 1: Create content for a huge audience

Go where there’s organic reach. I’d start with LinkedIn or X due to their size. Choose one go all in producing content. Find accounts that you can add to the conversation. Make real connections in the DM’s.

Step 2: Learn what the platform wants

You have two options:

  1. Follow top accounts and study what they do (slow)

  2. Take a course from a successful creator (fast)

I have nothing to sell you, but do your own research to find which is better. The algorithms of each platform will vary and be ever changing. Study online writing and the platform nuances for a winning combo.

Step 3: Own your list

The biggest mistake you can make is keeping your eggs in a basket you don’t own.

First off have a backup where you post your content on another platform. Some tools like TweetHunter let you do that with a single click and integration.

Second is to get your readers off the platform onto an email list. Then write to your list weekly at a minimum.

If you’re writing for followers, your followers are worthless.

Step 4: Create a swipe file

All great marketers and content creators have a swipe file. This is a collection of quotes, studies, articles, Tweets, ideas, video and content that means you won’t run out of ideas.

I like to categorize and save my content in Notion so when I sit to write I have plenty of source material.

Step 5: Become an expert hook writer

You’re already getting hooked by great headlines but you fail to notice it.

Save hooks that work on you and write your own daily.

I’ll be on a walk, at the gym or reading and have an idea that comes to my mind. If I don’t write it down somewhere I will lose it.

Once you find some winners try making them into templates.

Let’s take an overused one and turn it into a template.

Step 6: Create something valuable and give it away for free

It will cost them something, their email address.

Here’s what your going to do:

Look on Gumroad, Udemy and other paid course sites and find a training that you could make a better version of.

Make a downloadable PDF, Loom video, document a process, an infographic that you can use to attract and capture an audience with.

Let them know they’ll be getting a weekly newsletter from you with more cool shit.

Step 7: Sell your services

The easiest place to start monetizing a following is to sell your time.

#1 Rule: The service must provide more value to them than your charging.

You can do coaching sessions on a Zoom call, give access times on a slack channel to ask any questions they want, or provide a done for you service.

Step 8: Paid Newsletter

Once you’ve created a solid list and goodwill over 6-12 months you can open up a paid newsletter.

Offer a yearly plan at a price point of $49 per month.

If you have any resistance to that in your mind, then you’re probably haven’t provided enough value in your free content to think they should pay for premium content.

The greatest value I have ever received was from a paid communities. I’ve spent $50-$100/month to access content and community members.

If you’ve created relationships from sending DM’s daily to others on X and LinkedIn you can provide a free lifetime membership to get the community going.

Once you have some threads and conversations you can open it to your list.
