It’s easier to protect the ego and never actually make an attempt.

Here’s why:

You can tell yourself “If I don’t try I can’t fail. If I tried I could probably do it and that makes me feel good inside.

📺 Remember the show The Biggest Loser?

We’d sit on the couch eating potato chips and watch people work their ass off (literally). Then switch off the T.V. and feel like we somehow took part in the journey.

This happens when you keep reading that next Tweet or watch the next Alex Hormozi video all while never taking action.

You’ve come to prefer cheap dopamine over earned dopamine.

Today we fix that by giving you a feeling of certainty that the effort will be worth the reward.

Tool of the week

I’ve been testing every Twitter growth/content tool for the last 3 months and settled on Postwise for a number of reasons:

Postwise leverages AI to help you create better Tweets and threads and it’s the best I’ve seen yet.

The learning is dialed into Twitter specifically and with their new Ghostwriting AI it can learn your style. I don’t recommend using these tools to copy and paste, but as a way to flesh out ideas and produce more faster.

Second off a number of tools have built in “engagement” functions which boil down to a streamlined way of commenting on posts.

Top 3 reasons why this doesn’t work and what do to instead:

  1. The reach on comments is so low recently and even if you get reach you won’t gain many followers.

  2. The feed of posts to comment on are not shown chronologically so you’re often posting too late when eyeballs are gone.

  3. The final reason is you’re going to come off as unauthentic trying to run an assembly line of comments.

What to do instead.

Follow and engage with accounts that you want to learn from or connect with. The real juice happens in the DM’s anyway when you’ve added to the conversation in the comments.

Save yourself some heartache and pick one of these:

  • Health

  • Wealth

  • Relationships

Then tap into the lifeforce 7:

  • Feel secure

  • Physical comfort

  • Feeling superior

  • Protecting others

  • Social approval

  • Satisfying hunger

  • Sexual companionship

Here’s some examples of niched down audiences:

  • Vegan Bodybuilders (Health)

  • Urban Beekeepers (Wealth)

  • Christian Singles Seeking Marriage (Relationships)

  • Cosplay Makeup Artists (Wealth)

  • Newly Divorced Men Over 40 (Relationships)

Combine a niched down audience with a focus on the life force 7.

If you don’t have an offer yet, start as an affiliate.

If you want to create an offer but don’t have any skills or specialized knowledge invest in learning an in demand skill.

If you have specialized knowledge or in demand skills create a productized offer.

💰 Money is in the list

Here’s my hot take.

You should be spending money to acquire emails.

Email is still one of the highest converting platforms and it’s actually getting better year over year:

If I’m placing a bet on someone coming and taking my email list or Twitter/LinkedIn/Tiktok changing their algorithm I’m all in on algorithm change.

If the idea of spending money to grow your list feels daunting do not despair.

I’m going to make this simple.

if you have no way to monetize your list here’s your options in order:

  • Affiliate

  • Consulting

  • Freelance

  • Course

  • Productized offer

  • Paid community

We’ll deep dive each one on another episode, but here’s the secret.

You can hit breakeven at the affiliate level!

Do some research in your niche (hopefully health, wealth or relationships) to find a solid affiliate offer.

Use ChatGPT if you don’t have the strength anymore for a boomer Google search.
