Threads lives up to the hype?

What the Zuck can teach us about opportunity.

Welcome to the Right Words Newsletter!

In today’s email:

  • Deep dive: AI + VA’s and $.33 subscribers

  • Zucks new “Threads” app

  • Links worth reading

Let’s get after it.

🤿 Deep dive: AI + VA’s and $.33 subscribers

Yes I brought receipts.

Here’s how you get similar results:

✨ Ad creation

Right now gifs and memes are performing best.

🧪 Ad Testing

Facebook ad setup:

  • No interest targeting

  • Depending on your audience select male, female or both

  • Set target age to your demographic

  • Use conversion event

  • Write your ad to sell the click

Twitter ad setup:

  • 3 ad set setup

    • Interests

    • Follower lookalike

    • Keywords

  • Depending on your audience select male, female or both

  • Set target age to your demographic

  • Use web conversion event

  • Write your ad to sell the click (longer text works better on Twitter since they’re less likely to see that it’s an ad before you’ve already sucked them in)

😃 Hire a VA

Head over to OnlineJobs.ph (no affiliation) and hire a VA to help with this process and others.

Provide your VA with Loom recordings showing exactly what they need to do. Hell, take the process I outlined above, do it once while recording and talking through it, and you’ve got yourself a good ol’ SOP.

❓ Who does this setup work for?

I don’t care if you’re a consultant, coach, newsletter operator, real estate agent, founder, freelancer, VP of demand gen, etc.

This is the model to start collecting valuable email addresses and begin to interact with your target audience.

I’m 2 weeks in with 200 email subscribers with great open rates and clicks.

And guess what, I’m not a savant at this stuff.

‎‍🥇 Zuck in Silence

Threads is out and it’s too early to know if it’s going to be the Twitter killer.

I’m still using Twitter and Postwise to leverage that platform but…

I for one love the competition, we all win when this happens. Before I give my hot take on Threads let us observe the Zuck in his natural habitat.

If you went default mode you joined the haters of Zuckerberg. Turns out he’s winning at life.

Love him or hate him, what can we learn from the Zuck and apply to our business?

  • Dude’s been married for over 10 years

  • Has three kids

  • Won gold and silver medals in Jiu-Jitsu

  • Knows how to hydrofoil

  • Learned Chinese

  • Resistant to criticism

  • Youngest self made billionaire

  • Plans to donate 99% of his Facebook shares

  • Keeps personal life personal

And now he just launched Threads and you’re wondering: How do I take advantage of this new platform? Will this end up like Clubhouse? Do I spend time creating content here?

🔥 Threads Hot Take:

You should have started writing on Threads day 1.

If you’re writing on Twitter and not getting much traction and haven’t found success on Instagram this could be the opportunity you need.

Understand that Twitter and Instagram don’t have lot of audience crossover. If we created a venn diagram of your audience on Twitter with Instagram the overlap would be minimal.

Social media’s goal is to get people onto their platform and not let them leave.

Your goal is to get on social media and get people to leave.

Mark Williams

That’s what this newsletter is about: Growing your email list.

Math is hard moment:

Twitter has 450 million monthly active users. Instagram has 2.3 BILLION.

Twitter is 19.57% of Instagram/Threads

If you’re placing a bet that the Zuck can’t get his Instagram users over to Threads then you’re going to look like the dude he beat to win gold.

There is an added bonus: new ad inventory is going to open up to an incremental audience (more on what that means in a future newsletter).

You'll hear me say this over and over—while organic growth is great, spending ads to grow is better. Because nothing will motive you faster. And nothing will teach you how to spend $1 to make $2 better.

Best Links To Make 💰:

📧 Master the art of email copy. One of the best investments you can make.

🤫 Create a Swipe file in Notion. Start saving resources that inspire you, or that you want to refer to later. Trust me when you sit down to produce content this plus ChatGPT will literally kill writers block.

🎨 Use AI to create your logo. People waste so much time on this, just get one made and start.

🤖 Get your website built by AI. Again another hurdle that keeps people from starting. Now you have no excuse, let AI build it.

See you on the next one,
